I was educated at Kings Norton Grammar School for Boys. From there I went to Birmingham University Medical School and
qualified in medicine and surgery in 1961. I also sat and passed the examinations set by the Royal College of Physicians (London)
and the Royal College of Surgeons (England). After completing my post-graduate year at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham
and Selly Oak Hospital, Birmingham, I became a Priciple in General Practice in Birmingham. During this time I became aware
that I was not happy with the direction that modern General Practice was taking and so decided to study homoeopathy at The
Royal London Homoeopathic Hospital under the direction of the Faculty of Homoeopathy and Dr Marjorie Blackie, The Queen's
Physician.
I qualified in homoeopathy by obtaining my Diploma and subsequently became a Member of the Faculty of Homoeopathy in
1964. I then served for about 10 years on the Faculty Council and became a member of the Homoeopathic Research and Educational
Trust.
I acted as locum Homoeopathic Paediatrician (part-time) for about 12 months at the Royal London Homoeopathic Hospital
but because of my practice commitment decided I could not continue in this capacity.
In 1968, along with all the G.P.'s in England, I handed in my resignation to the NHS and did not rescind this when most
of the others did. At this point I went into private consulting practice.
I also developed an interest in industrial medicine becoming medical advisor to various companies including The Automobile
Association (Midlands), British Leyland Motors, The Coventry Radiator Company, Morris Commercial Vehicles and SU Carburettors
Ltd.
In the late 1970's and early 1980's, I became aware of the sgnificance of good nutrition and the role it played in the
maintenance of good health and so started to investigate the role nutrition played and where it failed. It soon became evident
that ordinary nutrition was no longer adequate for the job. Food was not what it had been prior to the 1940's (as later born
out by findings of the Government Laborotory for the Analysis of Food (McCance & Widdowson). Thereafter, most of my consulting
time was taken up with advising individuals and companies, nutritionally. The latest company for which I still act as consultant
and medical adviser is Higher Nature Ltd.
